Gaza fuel supply to be replenished

Israeli Army has announced that as far as it was concerned Nahal Oz fuel depot could have been reopened today. Instead it was left up to the private sector, "Dor" fuel company, that runs the depot decided not to work on Saturday and leave about 600,000 Palestinians in another 24 hours of darkness.

Gaza's power plant will be up and running tomorrow, maybe its director will plan better in the future.

According to the Coordinator for Government Activities in the Territories (C.O.G.A.T) in their daily report to the International community between the 15 June (3 days after Hamas's Coup de'tat) and 15 August, 17,184,000 litres of heavy duty diesel was channeled through the depot at Nahal Oz. Reports that originated from Fatah government officials and quoted in the Israeli media claimed that Hamas had stolen fuel supplied for the power plant by the EU via the Temporary International Mechanism, the mechanism designed to circumvent Hamas elected government.

Israel claimed that it was security concerns that caused the closing of the crossing. Whatever the security concern is, whether a sniper, improvised explosive device, a tunnel or a suicide mission, it is perceived by the Gazan population as political punishment. The problem with security alerts, based on intelligence, is if it the threat does not formulate to an attack due to the efficient intelligence and precautions taken accordingly Israel is always blamed. Benjamin Franklin defined intelligence forewarned and forearmed, you can't blame Israel for taking those precautions. Palestinians should look at their leadership for responsibility and accountability, not Israel. Every western country would do the same to protect its frontier.
