First reports are coming out of Gaza that in a cunning covert counter terrorist operation, IDF soldiers dressed in Hamas Executive Force uniforms snatched a chief Hamas operative in Gaza. According to the French Press Agency (AFP), the terrorist Mohawah al-Qadi is a senior member of Hamas's armed wing, Ezzedin al Qassam. Al Qadi was supposedly snatched late Friday by IDF undercover troops. The counter terrorist activity took place in the town of Rafah in southern Gaza and then taken to Israel via one of the near by crossings under the protection of Israeli helicopters. While the Israeli army had no immediate comment, other reports point out that Hamas thought that it was Fatah that carried out the kidnapping, a "modus operandi" that is wide spread in the infighting throughout the coastal strip. If indeed carried out by Israel, this is the kind of counter terrorist activities that Israel can carry out in the Gaza Strip without being scrutinized. Hamas on its part has ordered its factions to prepare for an expected Israeli invasion.Saturday, September 8, 2007
